Joseph H. Adams (BS 77) is president of Pratt & Whitney?s Space and Russian Programs business, based in Palm Beach County, Fla.


David Darwin

David Darwin (PhD 74), the Deane E. Ackers Distinguished Professor of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering and Director of the Structural Engineering and Materials Laboratory at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, was elected to a two-year term as Vice President of the American Concrete Institute at the spring 2005 convention in New York City.

Steven R. Donahue (BS 93, MS 95) is an associate in the firm of Horner & Shifrin Inc. Engineers/Architects/Planners of O?Fallon, Ill.

Daniel Lee Hamilos (BS 73) was recently appointed Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Hamilos specializes in allergy and immunology and is involved in patient care, training of physicians and clinical research.

Robert L. Martin (BS 77, MS 78) was made general manager of the DuPage Water Commission. He lives in Woodridge, Ill.

James Messmore (BS 85), senior vice president and manager of Hanson?s Chicago regional office in Oak Brook, has been named a fellow of the American Council of Engineering Companies. The College of Fellows is a group of engineers who have made significant contributions to the engineering profession through their experience, knowledge and networking abilities.

David A. Noble (BS 84) is city engineer of Ottawa, Ill.

John F. Svelnis (BS 95, MS 96) married Colleen Morgan October 11. They live in Chicago.

Eckhardts are members of President?s Council

In the CEE Newsletter Fall/Winter 2004 issue, Richard and Sylvia Eckhardt were inadvertently omitted from the list of President?s Council members. The department extends an apology to the Eckhardts for this error and thanks them for their generous support of the University.
