CEE 498SH, Sustainable Housing

 

This seminar course explores issues in housing sustainability and energy efficiency through readings, discussions, and invited presentations. Topics through guest lectures include:  rating energy efficiency, innovative materials, preservation, recycling and reuse, economic considerations, and alternative energy systems. Readings are assigned for each lecture, and students are expected to discuss each topic during the lecture. Assignments include a journal, and a term paper.  The textbook for the course is A Primer on Sustainable Building by D. Barnett and W. Browning, Rocky Mountain Institute (1995).

 

The class meets 1 hour per week. Credit is 1 hour.
