Repair and maintenance of our existing infrastructure is
a key area of practice in civil engineering. This course has three parts:
a) durability of materials and deterioration of structures, b) an engineering
methodology to condition assessment, testing, materials selection and design
of repairs; c) repair applications including subsurface structures and pipes,
foundations and waterproofing, steel and reinforced concrete, architectural
and historical considerations, etc.
The class meets 3hours per week. Credit is 4 hours.
