Biography

After graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2005, Andrew J. Keaschall joined the Structural Group at Alfred Benesch & Company. During his early career, he played an integral role in several major projects earning him a leadership role on the Wacker Drive Viaduct Reconstruction Project. Keaschall managed design and coordination of interdisciplinary efforts for the north portion of this complex, high-profile, $300 million effort in downtown Chicago. The project was completed on time in December 2012 within budget. 

Keaschall has also played a leading technical role in the design of a cable-stayed pedestrian bridge over the Fox River and is currently working on the design for a basket handle arch bridge to carry I-74 over the Mississippi River. 

In addition to his career responsibilities, Keaschall is a member of the ASCE Illinois Section and Vice-Chair of the Structural Engineering Institute. He co-taught a Bridge Design II graduate course at the University of Illinois at Chicago covering curved girder steel design, constructability, seismic analysis and more.  Keaschall was named the 2011 ASCE Young Civil Engineer of the Year, and a member of the Engineering News and Record – Midwest Top 20 under 40.  

Keaschall currently resides in downtown Chicago.
