Notes for Installing CAST on UIUC EWS Lab Machines

• Before you install CAST on the EWS lab machines, make sure that all previous installed CAST related files on the machine you are using are removed properly. To do that:

  • Click Start menu, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
  • Once the Control Panel dialog box is displayed, double click Add/Remove Programs icon.
  • Check if CAST is in the list of installed programs. If yes, click CAST icon, and click Change/Remove button.
  • When a message box asking if you want to completely remove CAST and all its components appears, click the Yes button.

• Immediately after you run the setup program, you may receive the following message:

where: CENT XX is the computer ID, and abcd is your login name.

To respond to this message, please select "Run the program as CENT XX\abcd" radio button and then click the OK button.

• After the above message appears, you may also receive the following message:

Please click the Ignore button as your response to this message.

Note: By clicking the Ignore button, the shared file MSVBVM60.DLL will not be installed to your system. This is still OK, however, because this file has existed on your system; it was installed by EWS people to run programs that also require that file, such as SAP2000 and RAM Perform-2D.

• You do not have the privilege to restart EWS computers. This may cause CAST not to run properly; it will keep showing you error messages. If this happens to the machine you are using, try to install and run on the other ones. If the problem still persists, please contact tjhin@uiuc.edu.
