Transportation engineers to gather for annual conference

Transportation engineers, officials, technicians, faculty and students will gather to discuss issues critical to the safe and economical movement of people and goods.

The 102nd annual Transportation and Highway Engineering Conference will be held February 23-24, 2016, at the Illini Union on the University of Illinois campus. The conference is annually sponsored by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois, the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois Center for Transportation, the Illinois Association of County Engineers, and the Illinois Association of Highway Engineers.

General sessions during the 102nd T.H.E. Conference will include a keynote address on the 102 counties in Illinois, and sessions on e-Construction, Intelligent Vehicles, and I-90 Reconstruction. Breakout sessions are offered in the areas of Bridges and Structures, Design and Construction, Traffic Operations and Safety, and Local Roads and Streets. Attendees will also hear about current research at the Illinois Center for Transportation as well as Local, Tollway, State, and Federal views and updates.

The exhibit hall in the Union Ballroom will be open throughout the conference, and exhibitors include many companies and organizations that participate in the transportation and highway engineering industry in Illinois. Other conference activities will include pre-conference short courses at the I-Hotel and Conference Center on Monday, February 22, a fish fry at Legend’s Bar and Grill on Green Street, and the Tuesday night Exhibit and Mixer event in the Illini Union Ballroom.
