Abstract

An overview is presented of physical and mathematical modelling of scour around hydraulic and marine structures. Principal ideas, general features and procedures are given. The presentation is organized in two sections: Physical modelling and mathematical modelling. A paper "accompanies" the presentation. The section on mathematical modelling is further organized in three subsections in the accompanying paper: mathematical modelling of scour around piers/piles, mathematical modelling below pipelines and mathematical modelling around other structures. Mathematical modelling of scour around piers/piles will be elaborated in the presentation. Over eighty references were included in the accompanying paper.
