Abstract
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island
District operates 20 navigation locks and dams on the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers and 3 major flood control
reservoirs in the State of Iowa. In order to effectively manage these
projects, the Water Management Section analyzes hydro-meteorological
information provided by a real-time gage network and utilizes a variety of
modeling and forecasting tools. This
presentation will provide an overview of the process used to manage the
District’s water resource projects and describe the data acquisition system and
modeling tools employed to optimize project objectives.
