Summer Faculty Led Study Tour, open to ALL majors:

NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program that will occur in summer 2018!  The program is called CAT Vehicle. Students will be working on a real autonomous car with technologies dealing with control systems, robotics, cognitive communications, machine learning, software engineering, etc.

The deadline for student paper competition submissions is FEBRUARY 5. Students must submit a 350-word (max) abstract and an executive summary of at least 1,200 words (so the committee will have a better idea of the paper you would be writing, if chosen). $500 prize awarded + travel stipend and a presentation slot at the annual conference in Seattle this September.

The Chicago Chapter of CMAA will award five scholarships of $1,000 each to undergraduate and graduate students in a construction program in 2018.  I would appreciate it if you could forward this message and its attachments to the students in your program at U of I.

Introduction to key concepts for the sustainable design of buildings and landscapes, including concepts that form the core of the U.S Green Building Council rating system (LEED). Introduction to LEED accreditation.

The class is taught by Brian Deal, Director of SEDAC (Smart Energy Design Assistance Center). 

The Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) is seeking an upper level environmental engineering undergrad with interests in graduate school, as we do provide funding opportunities for grad school students and are wanting someone who is interested in working with our team for 1+ year(s).
